12 September – Hamelin Station to Gregory

We started the day very early by driving to Monkey Mia while leaving the van back at the station. After watching the dolphin feeding at Monkey Mia we had a filling breakfast and nice coffee at Denham.

We then returned to Hamelin Station to pick up the van and then continued on to Gregory which had been recommended by some fellow campers. In Gregory we succeeded in finding the place few tourists bother to visit. The tourist book has an ad for our van saying “you’ll always get a warm welcome” which, on arrival, translates to “reception is not open – find your own site”.

Anyway, because the place is almost devoid of tourists we have an amenities block to ourselves. This place has a pink lake (yippee) and talk about windy - if you want your car sandblasted, just park it down at the beach.
