22 September – Lake Cave and Margaret River Wineries

Off we go playing tourist again. We do it so well now that we’ve been on the road for months.

We arrived at one of the many tourist caves just as a busload of school children arrived. We opted out and went on a karri forest drive that seemed as convoluted as the day is long. After popping out the other end of the forest drive we saw a maze so decided to try that. The forest drive was decidedly more challenging than the maze.

Next a picnic lunch then a tour of Lake Cave. The person booking the tour didn’t tell his other half about the 300+ steps. What goes down must come up – and she did – and she wasn’t the last.

The rest of the afternoon was spent (in a financial sense) at various wineries and food establishments in the region. It has been noted by this mere male that winery cellar doors here are inevitably staffed by attractive and personable young ladies.
